Online course: creating gender equality in the workplace

Online course on creating gender equality in the union and workplace

Course introduction

The program design of Creating Gender Equality in the Workplace course is ideally suited for a two-day workshop but could be facilitated as a series of discrete sessions. The course activities are participatory and therefore the time allocation will depend on the following: the number of participants; the level of comfort in working in English; the level of knowledge and confidence in working with gender and gender equality concepts; the level of experience and confidence of the facilitators.

Participant target group

Activists who have previously engaged with issues related to gender equality and have some basic understanding of the concepts of gender and gender equality.

Course objectives

  • Participants can articulate a basic understanding of the concepts: gender; gender stereotypes; gender roles and norms and patriarchy
  • Participants can use these concepts to frame at least one personal experience in their private and public lives
  • Participants share the strategies and approaches they use to respond to instances of gender inequality they experience in their private and public lives
  • Participants have an increased understanding of the role of Conventions/policies/laws in addressing gender inequality
  • Participants describe and commit to experimenting with action in their private lives and public lives that can contribute to creating more gender-equal norms.
